Miss Earth is the youngest pageant of the Big 4. Created in 2001, this competition is organized by the Miss Earth Foundation to promote awareness and knowledge on current environmental issues. Miss Earth purpose is to use beauty pageant industry as an effective tool to actively promote the preservation of the environment.
Miss International was first held in 1960 in Long Beach, California (Not to be confused with “Miss, Mrs and Miss Teen International Pageant”). Since early 1970’s the competition is held annually in Japan. Miss International contestants are considered as “Ambassadors of Peace and Beauty”. With beauty, Intelligence and friendship, they are expected to promote world peace, goodwill and understanding.
Miss Universe was founded in 1952 in California. With Miss USA, this pageant is part of the Miss Universe Organization. In 2015 the organization was brought by WME/IMG. The logo of Miss Universe represents the beauty and responsibility of women around the world.
Miss World is the oldest of them but also the oldest surviving major pageant. Conceptualized by Erick Morley, Miss World started in England in 1951 as “The Festival Bikini Contest.” Back then, the winner was crowned while wearing a bikini.
